Police blocked a road as car parks closed in Merseyside. Ainsdale beach and Formby beach car parks have been closed today (May 25) as dozens of cars were spotted travelling towards the beachfront.
The ECHO was at Ainsdale beach car park where Merseyside Police vehicles are currently blocking the road. The council has advised on social media that visitors should find alternative routes if planning on heading towards the coast.
A post on Sefton Council’s Facebook page reads: “Attention Drivers: The sun is out and our car parks at Ainsdale and Formby beaches are currently closed as they are both at capacity!
“To avoid long waits, we highly recommend delaying your arrival or considering alternative transportation.”

The council shared links to the Merseyrail website, where visitors can find information about the Northern Line and how to plan visits to beaches across the region.
Temperatures could exceed 30C across Merseyside today as weather conditions are predicted to feel like “mid-summer” rather than late May.
The Met Office said: “Temperatures may reach around 33C across parts of southern and central England, with the potential to challenge or exceed existing late-May records.

“By this stage, high pressure becomes more dominant across the whole of the UK. This means that areas in the north and west, which started the weekend on the cooler side, are likely to see more sunshine and higher temperatures by Monday.”
Saturday was the first time this year that the UK had passed 30C and Sunday saw the hottest recorded May temperature since 1947.
