A major crime scene was put in place near a bar after a woman was shot and killed in Sheffield in a horror Bank Holiday incident – with two arrests made in Greater Manchester.
Police raced to the scene of the incident at around 2.45am on Monday (May 25). It followed reports of a shooting outside the One Four One bar on West Street.
The victim, aged 30, was found with serious injuries. She was rushed to hospital where she later died, South Yorkshire Police confirmed. Formal identification has yet to take place but the woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

Two men and a woman have since been arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident and all three remain in custody, police said on Monday night.
One man, 30, and the woman, 32, were arrested near Stockport during the early hours of the morning, while the second man, aged 30, was arrested in Sheffield, according to the force.
Pictures from the scene showed crime scene tape stretching over the pavement outside the bar, with a large police presence in attendance throughout Monday carrying out investigations.
West Street is a busy area of the South Yorkshire city with bars, restaurants and shops that are popular with university students and locals alike. Earlier in the day, police had urged drivers to avoid the area as some of the surrounding roads remained closed.

Leading detectives have said there will be a ‘significant’ officer presence in the area following the ‘devastating’ incident and that there ‘were people who saw what happened or know who is responsible’.
Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane said: “This is a devastating incident which has resulted in the death of a young woman while on a night out during the bank holiday weekend in Sheffield.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her. Our officers have been working extremely hard to piece together the events surrounding the shooting.
“While our investigation is in its early stages, we will continue to have a significant presence at the scene in the area today and in the coming days.
“Bank holidays are one of the busiest times of the year, and we know that there were people in the area around West Street and Eldon Street who saw what happened or know who is responsible.

“Gun crime causes unbearable tragedy and the victim and her family deserve answers. We will work tirelessly to provide these answers and to put those responsible before the courts.”
