Aaron Hopper has been charged with the murder of Steven Streeting and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to another man

A Hartlepool man has appeared at Teesside Crown Court charged with murder. Aaron Hopper, 32, is accused of the murder of 50-year-old Steven Streeting.
Mr Streeting suffered a serious head injury in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday, May 25, and was rushed to hospital. He died on Tuesday evening, May 26.
Hopper is also charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to another man, who was treated in hospital and later discharged. Both victims were allegedly assaulted on Church Street at 3am on Monday, May 25.
The judge told Hopper, of Winterbottom Avenue, in Hartlepool, that he will be back in court on July 27 to enter pleas to the two charges. A provisional trial date was set for November 30. He was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
In a statement, Mr Streeting’s family said: “Steven was a much-loved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, but above all else, a devoted husband and loving father. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew and loved him.”
