British banking giant Lloyds Banking Group announced the closure of 95 branches earlier this year across the UK, meaning customers of Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland will be affected. A number of Lloyds and Halifax branches will close across Wales between May 2026 and March 2027.
As increasing numbers of customers switch to online and mobile banking apps, there is reduced demand for physical branches, with many major banks shutting locations across the country. Lloyds said: “Most customers prefer to use our mobileapp, online banking or call us.”
Lloyds is currently implementing separate previously announced plans that will see 49 sites close by this October. The group revealed last January that it would shut 136 locations by March 2026.
Once all of the planned closures are completed, Lloyds Banking Group will have 610 branches remaining. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here
