The Drone Front

Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and BAE Systems have received a British-Polish business award for their partnership to establish a 155mm artillery ammunition production facility in Poland.

The British Embassy in Warsaw and the British Polish Chamber of Commerce presented the British-Polish Collaboration Award to the two defense companies, citing their contribution to security cooperation and industrial development between London and Warsaw.

The project combines BAE Systems’ ammunition expertise with PGZ’s industrial infrastructure in Poland.

The planned facility is intended to boost local production while creating opportunities for technology transfer, skills development, and future cooperation on other munitions and energetic materials.

“I am confident that this collaboration will continue to develop in a direction beneficial to both sides and, above all, the Polish Armed Forces and the Polish defence industry,” PGZ’s management board president Adam Leszkiewicz said.

The recognition comes less than a year after PGZ and BAE Systems signed a strategic partnership agreement in September 2025 to increase Poland’s domestic ammunition production, a capability that has become increasingly important as European countries seek to replenish stockpiles and expand manufacturing capacity.

Polish Defense Builds International Partnerships

The PGZ-BAE Systems venture is part of a broader trend of Polish defense firms partnering with foreign companies to expand manufacturing capacity and acquire new technologies.

In March, PGZ and WB Group signed cooperation agreements with Saab to support submarine maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities under Poland’s Orka submarine program.

That same month, WB Group and Tantalit partnered with Nordic Air Defence to explore integration and production of the K100XR drone interceptor within their counter-drone and command-and-control ecosystems.

PGZ also signed an agreement with Milrem Robotics to jointly develop advanced defense technologies, combining expertise in robotics, manufacturing, and systems integration.
