Halifax, NatWest, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland are among the banks closing branches across the UK in June 2026

More banks are set to vanish from UK high streets in June, with dozens of closures scheduled nationwide. Lloyds Bank, Halifax, NatWest and Bank of Scotland have all been impacted, with a combined total of 24 branches either already shut or due to close before month’s end.
Multiple banks attribute the closures to evolving customer behaviour, with increasing numbers opting to handle their finances digitally and via mobile banking applications rather than attending branches physically.
However, the move has generated significant concern, particularly among elderly customers, who depend on the extra assistance to meet their banking requirements. In a statement, NatWest said: “We’ve recently announced that we’re closing some branches. You can still bank with us in many other ways.
“Banking has changed dramatically in recent years. There’s more demand for mobile and online services, allowing you to benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.”
It continues: “We understand the closure of your local branch will bring some changes, and we want to make sure you are fully informed and supported every step of the way.”
NatWest and Lloyds Banking Group – which runs Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland – maintain that customers will retain access to banking services through alternative provisions.
These encompass temporary community banking sessions, while dedicated banking hubs are being established in certain locations affected by branch closures.
