Police respond to man on hotel roof in Llandudno

A man was spotted on the roof of Evans’s Hotel in the seaside resort and there was a heavy police presence in the area

A man has been “detained” by police following a rooftop stand-off at a Llandudno hotel. Police and firefighters were called to Evans’s Hotel in the seaside resort at around lunchtime on Tuesday after a man climbed onto the roof of the property.
Multiple police vehicles were at the scene, with a fire engine also called in to assist.
Images from the scene showed a man stood on the roof of the building on the junction for Charlton Street and Vaughan Street. Officers were seen speaking to the male.
Charlton Street was taped off by officers.
In an initial statement, police said: “Following a police incident, Charlton Street and Vaughan Street in Llandudno is currently closed. Please avoid the area, thank you.”
At around 3pm, police confirmed the incident was over. A spokesperson said: “Following an incident in Llandudno, Charlton Street and Vaughan Street are now open.
“One man has been detained. Thank you for your patience whilst we brought this incident to a safe conclusion.”

‘Man detained’
North Wales Police have confirmed a man has now been “detained”.
A spokesperson said:
Following an incident in Llandudno, Charlton Street and Vaughan Street are now open.”One man has been detained. Thank you for your patience whilst we brought this incident to a safe conclusion .”

Witnesses have said there is some traffic disruption within the town centre as a result of the rooftop incident.
Emergency services remain on the scene at the moment trying to resolve the situation.

Man climbs onto hotel roof
Good afternoon. A road in Llandudno has been taped off after a man climbed onto the roof of a hotel. The incident has taken place at Evans’s Hotel on the junction for Charlton Street and Vaughan Street.
Multiple police vehicles are at the scene, and officers have been seen speaking to the man. Charlton Street has been taped off by officers.
