Another wave of high street bank closures has been confirmed across the country, including in Cornwall.
Lloyds Banking Group has announced that a further 79 branches will disappear across the UK, to add to the list of already announced closures.
This includes a further branch shutting in Cornwall, bringing the total number of closures still to take place this year to three – on top of the closure of the Penzance Llloyds branch in January and the Falmouth Lloyds in May.
The Truro branch of Halifax has now been added to the list, as part of 31 Lloyds branches and 48 Halifax sites announced in this latest round of closures.
The Lloyds Banking Group branches now shutting in Cornwall before the end of the year are:
Lloyds Bank
Camborne, TR14 8JT – October 7
Halifax
Truro, TR1 2AX – October 6
Camborne, TR14 8AD – October 7

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our community bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
Since 2015, nearly 1,600 branches have closed across the UK – more than any other banking group.
Lloyds Banking Group pointed to declining footfall and a sustained shift toward digital banking as the main reason for the closures.
The group said it will continue to invest in face-to-face banking, with more than 170 community bankers providing in-community support for customers.
