The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and AstraZeneca Korea have created a platform for cooperation to support Korean biotech companies’ entry into global markets.
KHIDI said it held “Project Nova Global Connect” during the BIO International Convention (BIO USA 2026) in San Diego on Monday.
Project Nova is an open innovation program in which KHIDI and AstraZeneca Korea provide support by connecting the innovative technologies and pipelines of Korean biotech companies with AstraZeneca’s global headquarters.
At the event, executives from AstraZeneca’s technology scouting and evaluation organization attended and held one-on-one partnering meetings with Korean companies. The participating firms discussed possibilities for joint research and commercialization based on technologies in immunology, oncology, and renal and metabolic diseases.
The event also introduced a cooperation case between Galux, a Korean AI drug discovery company, and biotech venture Ezcuris. Galux was selected as a target company for KHIDI’s stage-specific technology cooperation acceleration support project and is receiving commercialization funding for its entry into global markets.
KHIDI plans to continue follow-up support so that the promising pipelines discovered through this partnering can lead to tangible results such as joint research and technology cooperation.
“As open innovation is establishing itself as a core strategy of the bio industry, we hope that Project Nova will serve as a bridge for Korean biotechs to enter global markets,” said Jung Young-hoon, KHIDI’s planning director. “We will provide support so that cooperation between global pharmaceutical companies and Korean firms can lead to tangible business results.”
