The weather in London this weekend as scorcher continues

Londoners are set for an exceptionally hot weekend, with temperatures climbing to 37C on Friday before gradually easing through Saturday and Sunday.

The Met Office has issued extreme heat warnings for the capital, urging people to stay hydrated, avoid the strongest sunshine during the middle of the day and check on vulnerable friends, neighbours and relatives as the heatwave continues.

Friday, June 26

Friday is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend, with wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures reaching 37C across central London.

It will remain exceptionally warm overnight, with temperatures only dropping to around 21C, making for another uncomfortable night’s sleep.

There is little or no chance of rain.

Saturday, June 27

The heat continues on Saturday, although temperatures ease slightly to around 32C.

Sunny spells will dominate, but there is an increasing chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms, particularly from late morning into the afternoon.

Despite being a little cooler, it will still feel hot and humid.

Sunday, June 28

Conditions become noticeably more comfortable on Sunday, with highs of around 26C.

Expect a mixture of sunshine and cloud, alongside a fresher breeze.

Any lingering early showers should clear, leaving a warm and pleasant afternoon for those with outdoor plans.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are expected to settle into the mid-20s as the intense heat eases and humidity falls, bringing more typical summer weather for the capital.
