Police are working to identify an “aggressive” man who is alleged to have discharged a fire extinguisher in a “racial” incident at a South Belfast restaurant.
The man reportedly entered the premises on University Street at around 9:10pm on Friday night and began banging doors and shouting racial abuse.
He is also alleged to have taken a fire extinguisher and discharged it toward diners sitting outside the restaurant.
Belfast City Chief Inspector Kelly Gibson said: “It was reported that the man entered the restaurant at around 9.10pm and began banging doors and shouting racial abuse. “He then grabbed a fire extinguisher and took it outside the restaurant, where he discharged it in the direction of outside diners, before leaving in the direction of Dudley Street while shouting further racial slurs. “Our enquiries to identify the man involved are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone with information or recorded footage, including dashcam, to contact us on 101 or using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting reference number 1556 03/07/26. “Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org “
