An elderly man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in Trafford.
The horror knife attack happened in the Partington area on Tuesday evening (July 7). Police said officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk at around 6.05pm.
Officers were also spotted on nearby Walnut Road, with the air ambulance reportedly landing in the area amid the incident. A 72-year-old man was rushed to hospital from the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said he suffered a stab wound. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, the GMP spokesperson added. A man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police said the incident was ‘isolated’ with no wider threat to the public. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk in Partington at around 6:05pm last night (Tuesday 7 July 2026).
“A 72-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a stab wound. A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
“Scenes remain in place and enquiries are ongoing. This was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.”
