A cyclist is fighting for his life after a crash in Croydon.

Police raced to the junction of Scarbrook Road and Wandle Road following the crash yesterday (Friday, July 10).

There they found the 39-year-old cyclist who was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. The driver stopped to help.

Photos show police at the scene gathering evidence on what happened. There have been no arrests.

A Met spokesperson said: “At 12.05am on Friday, July 10, officers were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist at the junction of Scarbrook Road and Wandle Road, Croydon.

“The cyclist, aged 39, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

“He remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. His next-of-kin have been informed.

“The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit with their enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 3789/10JUL26.”
