Nigel Farage stunned shoppers in Bedworth when he strolled around the town’s market. The Reform UK leader was in town earlier today (April 7) after staging a press conference at the Sanders Club.

He then went on a stroll around the town’s weekly Tuesday market – much to the surprise of shoppers

Selfie-seeking school children, market traders and shoppers all clambered to speak to the politician – many asked to have a photograph with him.

He even obliged to have a photograph and say ‘cheese’ for a group of teens on bikes in the town.

The MP went on a walk-out with Warwickshire County Council Reform leader, councillor George Finch, who showed him around his hometown market.

Mr Farage chatted to market stall holders and shoppers and even popped into a book shop in All Saints Square to buy a book – ‘Commons Knowledge – a book for back benchers’.

During the whirlwind visit, he also spoke to shoppers, many of whom stopped him in the street – while others looked on in amazement.

It is the second time he has visited the town, having met with local party members ahead of the county council elections last year.

‘Heartlands’

It saw Reform become the minority group in control at Shire Hall and, when asked by CoventryLive if the county is becoming a heartland for Reform he said: “Yes, is the diplomatic answer.

“We (Reform) did very well last year and I am travelling around the country and this is week five and we have embedded ourselves to a certain extent around here.

“George (Finch) has done ever so well, there have obviously been huge doubts with his age but he has dispelled and shown a great maturity and dealt with it very, very well.”

Heading into the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council elections, which will be held on May 7, he said that he would be looking out for the results and predicted they would ‘do well’.
