A teenager has died – despite desperate roadside efforts to save him – and another has been arrested following a suspected hit-and-run crash.
The incident happened in Chestfield Road, near Whitstable, shortly before 8.15pm last night (July 24).

Police cordoned off the road – near the Chestfield Barn pub – while specialist officers carried out investigations.
An 18-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene following a collision with a white Mercedes A180. His next of kin have been informed.
As onlookers rushed to the injured motorcylist’s aid, another man – believed to have been in the Mercedes – was seen getting on the motorbike and riding off in the direction of Whitstable.
Members of the public – including an off-duty doctor and nurse – gave CPR until paramedics arrived, with a defibrillator rushed over from Chestfield Golf Club. Police and paramedics continued the resuscitation efforts, but the young man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 9.50pm, an 18-year-old man voluntarily attended Canterbury police station and was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody. The motorcycle has not yet been recovered.

Inquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of either vehicle before or after the collision to come forward.
