A truck driver has died and a man is fighting for his life following a four-vehicle crash involving firefighters.

Police were called to the A1065 at Castle Acre at 7.46am this morning following the collision, which was between a Mercedes Sprinter van, a Norfolk Fire and Rescue water carrier, a white DAF truck and a black Mazda outside the George and Dragon pub.

The road has since been closed while Highways works to repair the surface.

Officers have now confirmed that the driver of the DAF truck, a man in his 60s, died at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes van has been left in life-threatening condition and is currently being treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Two firefighters were in the water carrier at the time – but did not suffer any serious injuries.

Police are looking to speak to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
