Revellers travelled from across Great Britain to celebrate with the area’s Nigerian community at their annual summer get-together.
Partygoers each brought their favourite traditional foods to share at the gathering, held at Surfleet’s Glen Park on Saturday, August 1.

Barbecue chicken, turkey and fish were among the specialities while chin chin – a sweet, crunchy, and deep-fried snack made from all-purpose flour, sugar, butter, and nutmeg – puff puff, a lightly sweetened, yeast-raised dough that is deep-fried until golden brown, and plant-petal drink zobo were also on the menu.
South Holland’s Nigerian diaspora enjoy a yearly social event, with the group choosing take part in the Spalding Flower Parade last summer.
This year’s gathering saw British and African-born Nigerians join with friends from other communities, with some of the group travelling from as far afield as Scotland and Wales especially.

Other friends had a little less distance to travel, coming from Boston and Peterborough.
“We all came together to have a wonderful time,” said partygoer Chinenye Umeononigbo.
