Firefighters continue to tackle a huge blaze at an east London<\/a> waste site, with smoke visible for miles. <\/p>\n The alarm was raised at about 3.26am today after the fire broke out at the site on Chequers Lane, Dagenham. <\/p>\n Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the air as flames engulfed the facility on the industrial estate near the A13. <\/p>\n Local residents are urged to keep their windows and doors shut due to the smoke. <\/p>\n Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters are at the scene, London Fire Brigade said. <\/p>\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPregnant mum’s baby delivered half an hour after she died in 10th-floor fall<\/a><\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\tUK \tPolice catch child rapist who escaped while on leave from psychiatric hospital<\/a><\/p>\n \tHunt for ‘violent’ sex attacker ‘riding delivery bike’ after serious assault<\/a><\/p>\n \tBurnham \u2018exploring every option’ to block early release of PC Harper\u2019s killers<\/a><\/p>\n They are using two turntable ladders, a hose laying unit and a high volume pump to try to access more water across the ground. <\/p>\n Station Commander Graham Beers\u00a0said: \u2018This is a large incident that will see crews working hard through the morning to bring it under control. Residents in the nearby area should keep doors and windows closed where possible.
