the driver’s seat of the Ferrari Monza SP2 <\/a>– one of just 499 models made by the manufacturer in 2018 – and drove it accompanied by a police convoy.<\/p>\nThe vehicle is understood to be among several cars seized on Saturday from a ‘super car meetup’ at Wellington Arch near Hyde Park Corner, the Daily Mail reports.<\/p>\n
The Ferrari Monza SP2 originally sold for a little over $1 million, but its exclusivity has seen it shoot up in value as a second-hand collectible – with one purchased for $5million (\u00a33.7million) earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Video footage of the officer suavely driving the Ferrari through Mayfair alongside the police escort thoroughly tickled viewers online.<\/p>\n
Many of them joked the officer was having “the best day” of his career getting behind the wheel of the rare supercar, “putting the sunglasses on and everything”.<\/p>\n
One wrote: “Best day at work ever for that guy\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude02.”<\/p>\n
A second person posted: “Bless him\u2026 this guy is going home the happiest in the world.”<\/p>\n
A third added: “Bro must be dreaming \ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude02.”<\/p>\n
Yet another commented: “This must be the only time a seized car has actually been driven to the depot rather than towed.”<\/p>\n
It is not the first time the Met Police has taken illegal supercars off London’s streets.<\/p>\n
During a single weekend last year, officers retrieved a haul of 70 supercars worth around \u00a37million, with models including Ferraris, Porsches and two purple Lamborghinis.<\/p>\n
The luxury cars were confiscated across plush parts of West London including Hyde Park, Kensington and Chelsea, with officers joined by members of the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) as they impounded vehicles.<\/p>\n
The MIB revealed one driver of a purple Lamborghini has been in the UK for just two hours and driving for only 15 minutes when the extravagant motor was seized by police.<\/p>\n
Many of the vehicles were uninsured and the subject of anti-social behaviour complaints by residents, due to their fast and erratic driving around London’s most prestigious streets.<\/p>\n
