A huge fire has engulfed a Suffolk railway with all trains cancelled as smoke billows through the night sky. <\/p>\n

Emergency crews were called to Oulton Broad North railway station in the early hours of Thursday with reports of a fire. <\/p>\n

Images show an inferno burning through the roof of the station, as well as engulfing a restaurant on the platform – no one is believed to be injured. <\/p>\n

Fire crews from Lowestoft North, Lowestoft South, Reydon and Southwold and Halesworth attended alongside other firefighters from Norfolk, who started to leave the scene at around 6am.<\/p>\n

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a commercial building at Oulton Broad North Railway Station.<\/p>\n

“Upon arrival crews were faced with a roof fire within a restaurant based within the Railway station on the platform.”<\/p>\n

Suffolk Fire and Rescue have confirmed the the flames have now been extinguished. <\/p>\n

A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said: “6:00am update – the fire is now out, and crews remain on the scene to hot spot the area.<\/p>\n

“Crews from Norfolk are departing, and we thank them for their support. <\/p>\n

“Roads around the station are reopening now, but local residents are being asked to avoid the area if possible.”<\/p>\n

Local residents have been advised to avoid the area due the emergency vehicle presence causing congestion.<\/p>\n

All activity on the railway line has been stopped, with the authorities advising to check Greater Anglia for travel updates.<\/p>\n

National Rail has said there is expected disruption between Ipswich \/ Norwich and Lowestoft until approximately 10am.<\/p>\n

Greater Anglia has said impacted passengers can travel on local buses, with limited accessible replacement buses are running between Lowestoft and Norwich.<\/p>\n

The fire is believed to have started in Labone Indian restaurant.<\/p>\n

People have taken to social media to express their concerns for the eatery.<\/p>\n

One woman said on Facebook: “We had such a good work night there – so sad.”<\/p>\n
