{"id":1022,"date":"2026-03-30T13:20:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T13:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/1022\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T13:20:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T13:20:33","slug":"uks-first-circular-construction-hub-unveiled-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/1022\/","title":{"rendered":"UK&#8217;s first circular construction hub unveiled in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Design studios Yes Make, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/resolve-collective\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Resolve Collective<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/material-cultures\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Material Cultures<\/a> have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/adaptive-reuse\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">overhauled<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/warehouses\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">warehouse<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/london\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">London<\/a> to create Tipping Point East, the UK&#8217;s first dedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/circular-economy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">circular<\/a> construction hub.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yesmake.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yes Make<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resolvecollective.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Resolve Collective<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/materialcultures.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Material Cultures<\/a> worked with Newham Council and the Greater London Authority to open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tippingpointeast.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tipping Point East<\/a>, which will organise construction waste materials to be reused for other buildings.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2309931 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/tipping-point-east-circular-construction-hub-london-yes-make-resolve-collective-material-cultures_de.jpeg\" alt=\"Tipping Point East circular construction hub by Yes Make, Resolve Collective and Material Cultures\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The UK&#8217;s first dedicated circular construction hub has launched in London<\/p>\n<p>Yes Make led the transformation of the warehouse in Newham&#8217;s Royal Docks, which had been left derelict for nine years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By harnessing our skill set and our access to materials, we were able to deliver a remedial plan, electrical fit out and full factory control process to ensure it remains a great building for years to come \u2013 one that can serve the material revolution that we are driving at Tipping Point East,&#8221; Yes Make founder Joel De Mowbray told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2309937 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774876832_431_tipping-point-east-circular-construction-hub-london-yes-make-resolve-collective-material-cultures_de.jpeg\" alt=\"Tipping Point East circular construction hub by Yes Make, Resolve Collective and Material Cultures\" width=\"1772\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>It is located in a renovated warehouse in Newham<\/p>\n<p>Tipping Point East is divided into zones that help facilitate the material sorting process.<\/p>\n<p>For waste materials coming into the hub, there are initial loading zones, a quarantine area for pre-inspection, and an area for inspection, inventory and material passporting.<\/p>\n<p>After the materials are inspected, they are then brought into the building and placed in storage areas, ensuring contaminants do not enter the hub.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2309935 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774876832_988_tipping-point-east-circular-construction-hub-london-yes-make-resolve-collective-material-cultures_de.jpeg\" alt=\"Tipping Point East circular construction hub in London by Yes Make, Resolve Collective and Material Cultures\" width=\"1772\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Tipping Point East is divided into areas for sorting and distributing reclaimed materials<\/p>\n<p>The second half of the warehouse is used for processing materials according to client specifications, including cleaning, respraying and cutting, and preparing them to be distributed for reuse.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the hub is a community workshop, events and training spaces, an electrical testing facility, a collective office space, a materials store run by Resolve Collective, and an assembly space for large-scale group builds.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/02\/14\/john-puttick-associates-horizon-youth-zone\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/horizon-youth-zone-john-puttick-associates-grimsby-architecture-uk_dezeen_2364_sq-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Horizon Youth Zone by John Puttick Associates\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p> John Puttick Associates transforms listed warehouses in Grimsby into youth centre\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to De Mowbray, London produces 10 million tons of construction waste a year, and construction and demolition make up 62 per cent of the UK&#8217;s waste.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that preventing this waste from going into landfill will reduce the construction sector&#8217;s carbon impact and make the cost of building materials more stable.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2309945 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774876832_732_tipping-point-east-circular-construction-hub-london-yes-make-resolve-collective-material-cultures_de.jpeg\" alt=\"Circular construction hub in London by Yes Make, Resolve Collective and Material Cultures\" width=\"1773\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The hub also contains workshops and training spaces<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The scale of available materials can and will have a significant impact on domesticating the means of production,&#8221; he said. &#8220;In short, we have all the materials we need; we just need to stop smashing them into bins and skips.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At a national scale, this can have a stabilising influence on the price volatility in material markets that has arisen from global political instability,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2309939 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774876833_927_tipping-point-east-circular-construction-hub-london-yes-make-resolve-collective-material-cultures_de.jpeg\" alt=\"Circular construction hub in London by Yes Make, Resolve Collective and Material Cultures\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>It is hoped that the hub will reduce the amount of construction waste in landfill<\/p>\n<p>Following the launch of Tipping Point East, De Mowbray hopes to see more circular construction hubs established across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Physical space, the risk appetite to take on this immense challenge, and the practical mindset to overcome barriers, are fundamental to successfully establishing reuse hubs,&#8221;
