The government last month <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/215094\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ditched earlier proposals<\/a> to allow AI firms to use copyrighted content unless rights holders expressly opt out, in a move widely criticized by the tech industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see huge potential for the U.K.\u2019s AI future,\u201d the OpenAI spokesperson added, noting that the company continues to work with the U.K. government on public sector AI adoption and to invest as part of plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/213817\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">make London its largest research hub<\/a> outside of the U.S. Nscale and OpenAI remain in commercial discussions.<\/p>\n<p>A Department for Science, Innovation and Technology spokesperson said: \u201cOur focus is on continuing to create the right conditions for investment in the U.K.\u2019s AI and data center infrastructure.
