{"id":104076,"date":"2026-08-15T11:42:38","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T11:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/104076\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T11:42:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T11:42:38","slug":"cathedral-city-and-clover-owner-sells-off-uk-dairy-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/104076\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathedral City and Clover owner sells off UK dairy operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">The Cathedral City and Clover producer has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its UK dairy division for approximately \u00a3988 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Saputo\u2019s divestment will see five manufacturing facilities and popular brands including Cathedral City, Wensleydale, Davidstow, Clover and Country Life transferred to the Lactalis portfolio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">According to its own estimates, the Montr\u00e9al-based firm\u2019s UK dairy arm generated approximately US$1.2 billion in revenue over the last four quarters, representing about 7% of its consolidated revenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">The deal is expected to be finalised by the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Saputo said the proceeds from the sale will help enhance its financial flexibility and growth capacity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">In a statemen given to the press, it added that it would \u201cevaluate opportunities to deploy capital for organic investments, capital projects, and strategic acquisitions while maintaining focus on returns and long-term value creation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also read \u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodmanufacture.co.uk\/Article\/2025\/04\/04\/jobs-at-risk-at-saputo-dairy-uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"b-article-body-interstitial-suggestion\" aria-label=\"Open related story\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\">Jobs threatened as Saputo Dairy UK pulls out of infant formula market<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Carl Colizza, president and chief executive of Saputo, said: \u201cToday\u2019s announcement reflects a disciplined step to refine our global footprint and sharpen our focus on platforms where Saputo competes from a position of strength.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">\u201cThe value to be realized recognizes the expertise of the UK team, the quality of the operations, and the market position of these leading brands. This transaction reinforces our strategic focus and enhances our financial flexibility as we continue to create long-term shareholder value through disciplined capital allocation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">He added: \u201cWe are profoundly grateful to our colleagues in the United Kingdom for their dedication and contributions to Saputo.
