{"id":107259,"date":"2026-08-20T07:52:28","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T07:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/107259\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T07:52:28","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T07:52:28","slug":"stanchart-and-hsbc-complete-swifts-first-live-tokenised-deposit-transaction-fintech-schweiz-digital-finance-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/107259\/","title":{"rendered":"StanChart and HSBC Complete Swift\u2019s First Live Tokenised Deposit Transaction &#8211; Fintech Schweiz Digital Finance News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Free Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Get the hottest Fintech Switzerland News once a month in your Inbox<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.ch\/tag\/Standard-Chartered\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Standard Chartered<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.ch\/tag\/HSBC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">HSBC<\/a> have completed a live tokenised deposit transaction on <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.ch\/tag\/Swift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Swift<\/a>\u2019s blockchain-based ledger as they explore 24\/7 cross-border payments.<\/p>\n<p>The banks described it as the first live interbank transaction completed on the ledger.<\/p>\n<p>They exchanged payment messages through Swift\u2019s ledger and recorded the resulting obligations on their respective tokenised deposit systems.<\/p>\n<p>Swift\u2019s ledger enabled the obligations to be matched and netted before final settlement took place through existing systems.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction follows Swift\u2019s announcement in July 2026 that its ledger was ready for initial use.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen banks across six continents are preparing to pilot tokenised deposits through the network.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-85067\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Lewis-Sun-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Lewis Sun\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"  \/>Lewis Sun<\/p>\n<p>Lewis Sun, Head of Digital Currencies at HSBC, said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHSBC\u2019s interoperability transaction with Standard Chartered via Swift is a landmark moment for the promise of tokenised deposits.<\/p>\n<p>It demonstrates how digital money issued by banks can be interoperable across institutions while maintaining the integrity and regulatory oversight of the existing financial ecosystem.
