The case has been classified as obtaining property by deception, and no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe victim said he received a phone call from a scammer claiming to be an HSBC UK employee, who lured him into investing in green bonds,\u201d the force said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Following the scammer\u2019s instructions, the victim made 12 transfers totalling around HK$74 million to designated overseas bank accounts \u2013 including an account at Barclays Bank PLC in the UK \u2013 between February 2024 and January 2026.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe victim subsequently failed to recover the funds, suspected he had been scammed, and reported the case,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The alleged victim, a senior manager at the MTR Corporation, made a series of transfers over two years between February 2024 and January 2026.
