UK, Australia and Canada call Israel\u2019s decision not to investigate deadly 2024 strike on a Gaza aid convoy \u2018shameful\u2019.<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom, Australia and Canada have called Israel\u2019s decision not to pursue a criminal investigation into its deadly strike on a World Central Kitchen aid convoy in Gaza \u201cshameful\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement released<\/a> on Friday, the three countries\u2019 foreign ministries called on Israel to comply with international humanitarian law, saying they had spent more than two years pressing Israel to hold those responsible for the drone strike in central Gaza accountable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision is both too little, and too late. The victims of this incident and their families deserve justice and accountability, and we will continue to seek answers on their behalf,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Seven World Central Kitchen aid workers \u2013 three Britons, a dual US-Canadian national, a Pole, an Australian, and a Palestinian \u2013 were killed in their convoy after overseeing a food aid shipment in April 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a separate statement on Friday, Poland\u2019s foreign \u200cministry said it was \u201cvery disappointed\u201d in Israel\u2019s decision to not investigate the drone strike.<\/p>\n

The ministry also said that it has summoned Israel\u2019s ambassador \u2060in Warsaw after the Israeli military made the announcement. Australia also summoned Israel\u2019s ambassador in Canberra on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s military called the deadly strike a \u201ctragic mistake\u201d.<\/p>\n

But it announced on Wednesday that it would not launch investigations into the attack that killed the aid workers from the celebrity chef Jose Andres\u2019 \u2060World Central Kitchen.<\/p>\n

The announcement came after a review of 150 incidents of Israeli troop conduct during its genocidal war on Gaza, including the killing of Hind Rajab<\/a>, a five-year-old Palestinian child.<\/p>\n

The Israeli strike on World Central Kitchen employees in April 2024 sparked global outrage and triggered calls to protect the safety of aid workers in Gaza.<\/p>\n

The statement by the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada also said Israel announcing its decision on August 19, World Humanitarian Day, \u201cwhile the world honoured the courage and sacrifice of humanitarians, was particularly egregious\u201d.<\/p>\n

The US-based World Central Kitchen on Wednesday called Israel\u2019s decision \u201cinconsistent with the truth\u201d and demanded an independent investigation into the airstrikes \u201cbecause the [Israeli army] cannot credibly investigate its own conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n
