Enjoying the current little cold snap? Finally, it\u2019s been cool enough to wear a\u00a0jacket and use\u00a0a duvet. It\u2019s even been raining. But don\u2019t get too comfortable, because the UK is bracing itself for the sixth heatwave of the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Londoners have sweated through five heatwaves already this season, with temperatures soaring to a sweltering 38.1C \u2013 making it the hottest summer ever recorded. Now, the Met Office\u2019s long-range weather forecast for September, October and November has said there could be an \u2018increased risk of heatwaves and heat-related impacts\u00a0especially during the first half of the period\u2019.<\/p>\n

When will the sixth heatwave arrive in London?<\/p>\n

According to the Met Office\u2019s long-range forecast for August 30 to September 13, \u2018there is a chance that late-season hot spells or heatwaves develop, especially in the south\u2019. September will be filled with a mixture of showers and hot spells, followed by\u00a0\u2018drier, more settled weather, especially in the south and east\u2019 for the second half of the month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The forecast added: \u2018Temperatures will probably be near normal at first, but may turn warmer later with a chance of some hot periods in the south.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Met Office also warned of risks of thunderstorms and flooding throughout early autumn.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, this forecast isn\u2019t for certain and could easily change. The Met Office said that the signals for the heatwave in later September were currently \u2018very weak\u2019, meaning that it\u2019s probably too soon to tell the exact date of the heatwave, and if it will definitely happen at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n
