Firefighters and police attended the scene in Trafford with traffic temporarily halted<\/p>\n

Firefighters were scrambled to the M60 this evening after a car erupted into flames.<\/p>\n

It happened on the clockwise stretch of the motorway near junction seven for Sale<\/a> Water Park.<\/p>\n

Traffic heading towards the Trafford<\/a> Centre was temporarily halted after a car, which had pulled onto the hard shoulder, caught light.<\/p>\n

Pictures and video from the scene showed bright orange flames lapping up the side of the vehicle, with black smoke sent billowing across the nearby area.<\/p>\n

Two fire engines attended, along with police. Crews donned breathing apparatus as they extinguished the blaze.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: \u201cJust after 4.30pm this afternoon (Sunday 23rd August), two fire engines from Wythenshawe<\/a> and Eccles<\/a> fire station were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M60<\/a> between junction six and seven.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n
