{"id":109990,"date":"2026-08-24T15:52:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/109990\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T15:52:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:52:14","slug":"national-grid-approves-high-marnham-substation-near-newark-as-part-of-great-grid-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/109990\/","title":{"rendered":"National Grid approves High Marnham substation near Newark as part of Great Grid Upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A series of new power projects aimed at meeting growing demand for electricity have been given the go-ahead &#8211; including in Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n<p>Three new substations had been put forward by the National Grid as part of its Great Grid Upgrade programme, and are aimed at improving the electricity transmission network between South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n<p>The locations of these substations include High Marnham, north of Newark, at the site of a former coal-fired power plant which has since been converted into the clean-energy facility.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 3200 1800\" alt=\"National Grid are making substation upgrades, including at High Marnham, north of Newark.
