LOS ANGELES, Aug 29 (Reuters) – British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was deported back to his \u200chome country, the United Kingdom, a Department of \u200cHomeland Security (DHS) spokesperson said on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The deportation on Friday came a day \u200bafter Yiannopoulos, 41, was arrested at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A DHS spokesperson said he “chose to overstay his welcome in violation of \u200cour nation’s laws” \u2060after legally entering the country in May 2019.<\/p>\n
Yiannopoulos, who has called for stricter immigration enforcement \u2060than the Trump administration has carried out, including ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, did not appear for an immigration hearing \u200band was \u200bissued a final order of \u200bremoval on July 22, \u200caccording to DHS.<\/p>\n
Yiannopoulos could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n
The celebrity news site TMZ.com, which broke the news of his arrest, suggested that Yiannopoulos, who has close ties to the rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was in \u200cNew Orleans ahead of the \u200bmusician’s scheduled performance there on Friday \u200bnight.<\/p>\n
Yiannopoulos was a vocal \u200bsupporter of Donald Trump during his 2016 \u200ccampaign and often espoused anti-Islamic \u200band anti-immigrant rhetoric. \u200bIn a June 2025 post on the social media platform X, he wrote: “We have got to deport \u200bmillions and millions \u200cand millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters.”<\/p>\n
