The conversion project is part of a broader strategy the City of London Corporation has implemented to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for its own operations by 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Lady Mayor, the third woman to hold the office, enlisted the team at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrogenic.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Electrogenic<\/a> to electrify the 1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI. The British outfit is known for updating classic cars with electric powertrains, tackling everything from a <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/motors\/cars\/first-drive-electrogenic-all-electric-porsche-911-conversion-1234819581\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Porsche 911<\/a> to a <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/motors\/cars\/first-drive-electrogenic-all-electric-delorean-dmc-12-restomod-1235807098\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeLorean<\/a> to a <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/motors\/cars\/jason-momoa-electric-1929-rolls-royce-phantom-1235503492\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rolls-Royce Phantom II<\/a>. It has also developed nifty \u201cdrop-in\u201d EV conversion kits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-robbreport-2017-v2\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/city-of-london-electric-1973-rolls-royce-phantom-vi-2.jpg\" alt=\"City of London's Electric 1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI battery pack\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tThe 62 kWh battery pack gives the car a range of 100 to 120 miles. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tElectrogenic<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOne of just 374 examples built, the stately 1970s Rolls was carefully re-engineered by the team at <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/tag\/electrogenic\/\" id=\"auto-tag_electrogenic\" data-tag=\"electrogenic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Electrogenic<\/a> to ensure the modern tech did not affect existing character or craftsmanship. Nothing has been cut, drilled, or welded on the original car, meaning the conversion is fully reversible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe original powertrain has been replaced with a 120 kW electric motor that produces roughly 221 ft lbs of torque, according to Electrogenic. It is fed by a 62 kWh battery pack that sits under the sweeping bonnet and is driven through a single-speed direct-drive transmission. The Phantom has a range of between 100 and 120 miles, meaning it can quietly and cleanly carry out official duties in London and beyond. (Rapid charging means juice can be quickly topped up between engagements.) As the car measures just under 20 feet long, it is also possible to double the battery capacity in the future to increase range.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe electrified Rolls offers two distinct driving modes: \u201cNormal\u201d allows regular one-pedal driving around town, while \u201cCeremonial\u201d drops power and torque to ensure a slow, graceful crawl during civic processions and state occasions. A screen showing all the key EV information is discreetly hidden in the glovebox.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-robbreport-2017-v2\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/city-of-london-electric-1973-rolls-royce-phantom-vi-9.jpg\" alt=\"City of London's Electric 1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI interior\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tA modern display is tucked away in the glovebox.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tElectrogenic<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhen it was launched in the late 1960s, the Rolls-Royce VI was the most refined and dignified limousine on the road,\u201d Electrogenic CEO Steve Drummond said in a statement. \u201cNow, thanks to electrification, its core character has been enhanced further: it is whisper-quiet, effortless to drive with swift performance, and emits zero tailpipe emissions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe City of London Corporation had been looking for ways to modernize and improve its ceremonial fleet for roughly five years, considering whether to sell the existing vehicles and purchase replacements or carry out extensive repairs on the three Rolls-Royces.
