The rise is under way, going from 66 to 67 starting in April, but exact dates depend on when you were born.<\/p>\n<p>The rise is not happening at the same time for all pensioners; instead, it is being phased in over three tax years for those born between April 1960 and March 1961.<\/p>\n<p>Some <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/2245165\/major-pension-age-change-will\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">state pensioners<\/a> will receive their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/state-pension\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">state pension<\/a> at age 66 and one month, all the way up in one-month increments to those who will get theirs aged 66 and 11 months, and then, finally, pensioners who will not receive theirs until age 67.<\/p>\n<p>Who receives their <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/2245218\/state-pensioners-claim-2600-dwp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">state pension <\/a>from 66 and one month and who has to wait until they\u2019re 67 is entirely dependent on their date of birth. The monthly incremental phase-in has been decided based on blocks of monthly birth dates, beginning in April 1960.<\/p>\n<p>Those who were born between April 6, 1960 and May 5, 1960, will get their state pension from 66 years and one month &#8211; that means they will be eligible for state pension payments from May 6 to June 6, 2026 (whereas before, it would have been April 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Then, those born between May 6 and June 5, 1960, will receive their pension at age 66 years and two months, which is July to August 2026. Those born June 6, 1960, to July 5, 1960, 66 years three months, which is September to October 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Those born July 6, 1960, to August 5, 1960 \u2013 66 years 4 months \u2013 get their state pension from November to December 2026. Everyone born in later months than this will not get their state pension until 2027 or 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The Government says about the phase-in in its guidance: \u201cThe Pensions Act 2014 brought the increase in the state pension age from 66 to 67 forward by eight years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state pension age for men and women will now increase to 67 between 2026 and 2028. The Government also changed the way in which the increase in the state pension is phased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather than reaching state pension age on a specific date, people born between April 6, 1960 and March 5, 1961 will reach their state pension age at 66 years and the specified number of months.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The state pension age is going up for people born in two years.
