{"id":12390,"date":"2026-04-12T16:24:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T16:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/12390\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T16:24:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T16:24:29","slug":"a9-ember-bus-crash-on-inverness-perth-road-north-of-aviemore-at-the-granish-junction-with-the-a95-sparks-large-emergency-response-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/12390\/","title":{"rendered":"A9 Ember bus crash on Inverness-Perth road north of Aviemore, at the Granish junction with the A95, sparks large emergency response"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UPDATE: The A9 was closed both ways after an Ember bus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverness-courier.co.uk\/news\/emergency-crews-including-specialist-resources-on-scene-432261\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">crashed at the Granish junction<\/a> on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The bus left the road near the junction, which sits north of Aviemore, at around 9.40am.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses described the bus having left the road, and crashed into a copse of aspen trees at the bottom of an embankment.<\/p>\n<p>The crash sparked a large response from emergency services, with multiple fire engines and an air ambulance among the units deployed to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Fire and Rescue service said it had deployed three appliances &#8211; from Inverness, Kingussie and Grantown-on-Spey &#8211; as well as \u201cspecialist resources\u201d from Carrbridge and Newtonmore.<\/p>\n<p>An air ambulance also flew to the scene from Aberdeen Airport, arriving at around 10.35am before later flying back to the airport in Dyce at 11.01am and landing there just after 11.30am.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple road ambulances could also be scene at the site of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Ambulance Service was approached for comment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 434 296\" alt=\"Multiple ambulances could be seen at the scene as well as another Ember bus, which was not believed to have been involved in the crash.\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"D3D682ZX0IUJ26583QR2.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.47\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/D3D682ZX0IUJ26583QR2.jpg\" alt=\"Multiple ambulances could be seen at the scene as well as another Ember bus, which was not believed to have been involved in the crash.\"\/>Multiple ambulances could be seen at the scene as well as another Ember bus, which was not believed to have been involved in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PoliceScotlandHighlandandIslands\/posts\/pfbid0HFgmRdj51Fpm2v81n8ZMn8bNqpQARSfLEdFugqZTTkm2tqRA9RkFUpw1eshkiyEDl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Police Scotland spokesperson<\/a>, in a statement issued just after 11.15am, added: \u201cThe A9 is currently closed north of Aviemore, near its junction with the A95, following a one-vehicle crash which was reported around 9.40am on Sunday, April 12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmergency services are in attendance and members of the public are advised to avoid the area where possible at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A passer-by said: &#8220;It was a very busy accident scene with ambulances and their crews queued up at the very top of the junction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was also an Ember bus by the junction but it could be that this coach had been sent by the company for forward travel for the passengers caught up in the accident.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There were long tailbacks heading south through Aviemore with vehicles stretching all the way to Granish junction itself.
