A man has been pronounced dead following a “suspected burglary” in Newcastle city centre<\/a>. A major emergency services response was sparked on Sunday morning with police, firefighters and ambulance crews descending near to the Discovery Museum.<\/p>\n

Ambulances, fire engines and police cars were parked up at Westmorland Street<\/a>, at the junction of Blandford Square, from around 8am. Northumbria Police<\/a> confirmed that the force was initially called after receiving a report of a suspected burglary in the area.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the force said: \u201cAt around 7:15am today (Sunday) we received a report of a suspected burglary in the Blandford Square area of Newcastle. Emergency services attended, where sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. The man\u2019s death is not being treated as suspicious by officers and a report has been made for the coroner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The North East Ambulance Service were called shortly before 10am. The service dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader, one specialist paramedic and two Hazardous Area Response Teams to the scene.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews began to leave the scene at around midday.<\/p>\n
