People shouldn\u2019t need separate accounts for home and abroad,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uk.linkedin.com\/in\/nilanpeiris\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nilan Peiris<\/a>, Wise\u2019s chief product officer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith the Wise Current Account, we\u2019re giving customers a smarter way to manage their daily financial needs. They can hold and fully access their money while getting a return, easily spend on everyday purchases and split bills, and send and receive money quickly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/cross-border-commerce\/cross-border-payments\/2025\/why-99-percent-of-cross-border-consumers-insist-on-local-payment-methods\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">across borders<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 all at a low cost with no hidden fees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the new account come two new features: Airport Lounge Pass and Young Explorer cards. Thanks!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe card is directly linked to the parents\u2019 Wise Current Account and can be topped up for spending and cash withdrawals,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s designed with safety in mind: parents and guardians can track spending, set up approvals for payments and will receive instant spend notifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This offering comes as younger consumers continue to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/the-gen-z-decoder-ring-digital-by-default\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drive adoption of digital banking<\/a>, with PYMNTS Intelligence research showing that this age group tends to manage financial tasks from the same apps used for shopping, communication and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThat pattern does not reflect a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/digital-first-banking\/2026\/revolut-pushes-deeper-into-banking-as-digital-users-multiply\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">preference for banks<\/a>\u00a0in the traditional sense. It reflects a preference for integrated digital environments where payments, savings and spending sit within the same interface,\u201d PYMNTS wrote last week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor providers, the read-across is that the firm that captures daily engagement is more likely to become the primary account. For banks eyeing competition from the neobanks, some of the latter are beginning to operate with the same economic levers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The announcement follows a report from last year that Wise was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/banking\/2025\/wise-considers-becoming-bank-united-kingdom\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">considering<\/a>\u00a0becoming a full-fledged bank in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company is also at work on a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/cross-border-commerce\/2026\/wise-says-dual-listing-will-increase-profile-in-us-and-accelerate-global-growth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dual listing<\/a>, which will see the U.S. become its primary listing ahead of London.
