{"id":13869,"date":"2026-04-14T10:20:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/13869\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T10:20:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:20:24","slug":"studio-egret-west-only-uk-finalist-in-montreal-regeneration-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/13869\/","title":{"rendered":"Studio Egret West only UK finalist in Montreal regeneration contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The architect \u2013 working with real estate company <a href=\"https:\/\/www-olymbec-com.translate.goog\/accueil.html?_x_tr_sch=http&amp;_x_tr_sl=fr&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en&amp;_x_tr_pto=sc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">D\u00e9veloppement Olymbec<\/a> and engineer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.groupesbse.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Groupe SBSE<\/a> \u2013 is the only UK finalist in the <a href=\"https:\/\/montreal.ca\/en\/articles\/reinventing-montreal-2025-2027-envisioning-150-rue-de-louvain-ouest-88959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Reinventing Montreal<\/a> contest, part of the wider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c40reinventingcities.org\/en\/professionals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">C40 Reinventing Cities initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The other finalists are BMHL Equities and Sotramont Canada with Atelier Chaloub Architectes, Gris Orange Consultant and \u00c9cohabitation; Groupe Dayan with Provencher_Roy and Rayside Labossi\u00e8re; and Groupe Corev with LAAB architecture with Hum\u00e0 Architecture and Artelia Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c40reinventingcities.org\/en\/professionals\/sites-in-competition\/150-louvain-ouest-2057.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">150 Rue de Louvain Ouest<\/a> regeneration\u00a0in the Chabanel neighbourhood\u00a0is the focus of the third edition of Reinventing Montreal, part of the C40 Reinventing Cities programme.<\/p>\n<p>The competition aims to promote environmental sustainability, climate change resilience, and community integration. Key aims include delivering a \u2018humane, inclusive and affordable\u2019 mixed-use regeneration of the large brownfield site.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists will be submitting final proposals in\u00a0November with a public jury and presentation of projects scheduled for February\u00a0next year.<\/p>\n<p>Montr\u00e9al is the most populous city in Canada\u2019s French-speaking Quebec province. The latest announcement comes two years after an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/competitions\/olympic-stadium-roof-reuse-montreal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">open international contest was launched seeking ideas for the reuse of expired roof materials<\/a> from the Montr\u00e9al Olympic Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Montr\u00e9al launched a contest inviting students around the world to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/competitions\/cepsum-arena-montreal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">rethink how its Cepsum Arena could promote \u2018invisible\u2019 accessibility<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>The C40 Reinventing Cities initiative focusses on the transformation of a wide variety of sites including empty plots, abandoned buildings, a disused printing works and a former chemical works.<\/p>\n<p>C40 Cities is a network of major cities representing more than 650 million people and one quarter of the global economy.
