The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/dwp\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DWP<\/a> has confirmed the eligibility criteria for <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/2192666\/dwp-automatic-300-payments-pensioners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this year\u2019s Winter Fuel Payments<\/a> as the 2026\/27 tax year is now under way, with pensioners set to receive payments automatically in November and December. <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/2192615\/older-state-pensioners-80123-monthly\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">State pensioners<\/a> will be eligible for a Winter Fuel Payment this winter if they were born before June 27, 1960, and live in England or Wales, but the exact amount depends on when your birthday falls.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Fuel Payments are worth between \u00a3100 and \u00a3300, depending on your circumstances, with those aged under 80 awarded \u00a3200 towards <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/energy-bills\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heating bills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The DWP has confirmed that eligible pensioners who live alone and were born between September 28, 1946 and June 27, 1960, will receive a \u00a3200 Winter Fuel Payment. For older pensioners (those aged 80 or over) born before September 28, 1946, the Winter Fuel Payment will be \u00a3300.<\/p>\n<p>If you get Pension Credit, Universal Credit, or Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), your payment amount may differ.<\/p>\n<p>Most pensioners who receive the the following 12 benefits will receive the Winter Fuel Payment automatically in November or December, and don\u2019t need to do anything to claim it:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/state-pension\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">State Pension<\/a>Pension CreditUniversal Credit<a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/attendance-allowance\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Attendance Allowance<\/a>Personal Independence Payment (PIP)Carer\u2019s AllowanceDisability Living Allowance (DLA)income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)awards from the War Pensions SchemeIndustrial Injuries Disablement BenefitIncapacity BenefitIndustrial Death Benefit<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t get any of these, then you will need to submit a claim for the payment if either of the following apply:<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ve not got the Winter Fuel Payment beforeYou\u2019ve deferred your State Pension since your last Winter Fuel Payment<\/p>\n<p>The DWP will send letters to eligible pensioners in October or November confirming the payment amount and this will then be paid before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The DWP said: \u201cMost payments are made automatically in November or December.
