Concerns have been raised over the state of Glasgow city centre, which shopkeepers say is “getting worse” after a horror double stabbing <\/a>took place this morning.<\/p>\n

Police have taped off an area on Queen Street<\/a>, near Royal Exchange Square, following the incident at around 4.55am on April 14. Officers rushed to a report that a man had been stabbed.<\/p>\n

On arrival, another man was found injured, also believed to have been stabbed. Both men have been taken to hospital – their condition remains unknown at this stage.<\/p>\n

Glasgow Live spoke with shopkeepers who have raised concerns after the double stabbing.<\/p>\n

One eyewitness said: “When I came into work this morning I saw police outside but wasn’t sure what’s happening. I’m just shocked that someone has been stabbed.<\/p>\n

“Some parts of the city centre are really bad which is concerning, especially when you’re walking alone to your car.”<\/p>\n

But another was less surprised, stating: “This is just the city centre, it’s getting worse. Glasgow city council have put in anti-social parameters but nothing has changed. I was getting my lunch for today and caught a shoplifter, we are also constantly dealing with shoplifters in here.<\/p>\n

“This stabbing is no real shock.”<\/p>\n

A section of the pavement remains closed while officers carry out an investigation into what happened.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland<\/a> spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway after police received a report a man had been stabbed in Queen Street, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and a further man was found injured, also believed to have be stabbed.<\/p>\n

“Both men have been taken to hospital. Officers remain at the location and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.<\/p>\n
