A man has been arrested for the second time on suspicion of murdering Bristol woman Carol Clark more than three decades ago.<\/p>\n

Carol’s partially-clothed body was discovered by a dog walker amongst reeds and undergrowth on the bank of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal on Sunday, March 28, 1993.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old lived in Montpelier <\/a>in Bristol. She had last been seen two days earlier in Picton Street, where she was spotted getting into a car.<\/p>\n

She was discovered strangled and her neck had been broken. Last month, on the 33rd anniversary of Carol’s death, Gloucestershire Police renewed its appeal for information on the high-profile cold case.<\/p>\n

The Major Crime Investigation Team has now shared an update, confirming officers arrested a 69-year-old man at a property in Gloucester today (Tuesday, April 14) on suspicion of Carol’s murder. He remains in police custody.<\/p>\n

The force confirmed he had previously been arrested as part of the investigation in 2023 and had remained under investigation. He was detained for the same offence following a “significant development in the inquiry”, Gloucestershire Police said.<\/p>\n

Carol’s family have been informed of the development. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Usher, head of Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Today’s arrest is a significant development in our investigation to identify Carol’s killer and bring them to justice.<\/p>\n

“For the past 33 years we have worked hard to solve this case, and we continue to leave no stone unturned.<\/p>\n

“Last month, we issued a renewed appeal to the public for information about Carol’s death and I remain grateful for the support both the media and the public continue to give us.<\/p>\n
