{"id":14441,"date":"2026-04-14T23:11:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T23:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/14441\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T23:11:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T23:11:16","slug":"southport-inquiry-axel-rudakubanas-parents-should-be-deported-from-britain-says-robert-jenrick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/14441\/","title":{"rendered":"Southport inquiry: Axel Rudakubana&#8217;s parents should be deported from Britain, says Robert Jenrick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Jenrick has called for the parents of Axel Rudakubana to be deported to Rwanda following the publication of the Southport Inquiry\u2019s findings.<\/p>\n<p>The Reform UK Treasury spokesman accused Alphonse Rudakubana and Laetitia Muzayire of acting disgracefully and said they should face prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Telegraph&#8217;s Daily T podcast, Mr Jenrick said: \u201cThe family of Axel Rudakubana have behaved shamefully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged the pressures parents can face but said the couple knew their son was amassing weapons and feared for their own safety, yet failed to act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese individuals should face criminal charges and they should be deported. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They came here for asylum. They enjoyed the hospitality [and] generosity of the UK, and they&#8217;ve abused that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The inquiry, chaired by Sir Adrian Fulford, found the parents bore \u201cvery considerable responsibility\u201d for the attack on July 29, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The retired judge concluded that had they acted as they were morally obliged to, their son would not have been able to carry out the killings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"bc681\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"f1cde728e2462e71ed12c69884d8ce69\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%205000%203528'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/robert-jenrick.jpg\" width=\"5000\" height=\"3528\" alt=\"Robert Jenrick\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Mr Jenrick said Axel Rudakubana&#8217;s parents had &#8216;behaved shamefully&#8217;<\/p>\n<p> | <\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis terrible event could have been and should have been prevented,\u201d Sir Adrian said.<\/p>\n<p>His two-volume report, running to more than 763 pages, described the parents\u2019 \u201ccomplete abandonment of responsibility\u201d as \u201cutterly unconscionable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The inquiry found the couple &#8211; who arrived in the UK in 2002 after fleeing the aftermath of Rwanda\u2019s 1994 genocide &#8211; allowed weapons to be kept in the home, failed to set boundaries and did not alert authorities to warning signs.<\/p>\n<p>Three young girls were killed in the attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport &#8211;
