A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a hit and run in Everton. Emergency services were called to Jennifer Avenue at around 6.25pm yesterday, Tuesday, April 14, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.<\/p>\n
The van failed to stop at the scene<\/a> and was last seen heading towards Scotland Road, according to police. The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment<\/a>.<\/p>\n The vehicle was later found abandoned on Latimer Street in nearby Vauxhall.<\/p>\n When the ECHO<\/a> arrived at the scene, a large police cordon had been put in place stretching from the junction of Jennifer Avenue and Scotland Road to midway along Jennifer Avenue.<\/p>\n Several police vehicles, including a scientific support unit, were parked nearby while forensic officers gathered evidence within the cordon.<\/p>\n A search of the surrounding area was ongoing, with road closures in place on Jennifer Avenue. Motorists were being advised to avoid the area, although nearby supermarkets remained accessible via Great Homer Street.<\/p>\n Merseyside Police confirmed the incident and said enquiries are in the early stages.
