A Derbyshire MP has launched a campaign to get everyone talking ‘openly and healthily’ about sex and has dubbed summer 2026 the ‘summer of sex’.<\/p>\n

Samantha Niblett, <\/a>South Derbyshire MP since 2024, has secured a debate in the House of Commons on lifelong sex education that will take place in the early autumn.<\/p>\n

In the run-up to the debate, she is teaming up with Cindy Gallop of MakeLoveNotPorn – an adult video website that aims to offer an alternative to hardcore pornography – to launch the campaign to get all of Britain talking And Educating About Sex, with a tagline of “Yes Sex Please, We\u2019re British!”<\/p>\n

The campaign says that lifelong sex education is crucial for public health, equality, and safety and focuses on education in understanding consent, respect and healthy relationships to prevent abuse and violence.<\/p>\n

It also aims to raise awareness about how life stages such as childbirth, the menopause, stress and erectile dysfunction as well as health conditions and disabilities can impact sexual satisfaction in all people.<\/p>\n

Ms Niblett<\/a> said: “The Labour government is serious about tackling violence against women and girls and about helping boys and men increasingly being drawn into the toxicity of the manosphere to understand their important role in society.<\/p>\n

“Whilst government can and is taking action to block and ban harmful content online, we need to ensure we\u2019re educating on what is beautiful and normal about real sex and love in real life for every consenting person in the UK.<\/p>\n

“If we can\u2019t talk about good sex, how can we expect people to talk about bad sex and help keep them safe? Sex is a significant part of most people\u2019s lives – there should be no shame associated with it.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m looking forward to everyone feeling empowered and comfortable to say, ‘Yes, sex please, we\u2019re British!'”<\/p>\n

The campaign calls for relevant, all-inclusive lifelong sex education to be integrated into the public health system and beyond for every age and at every life stage and take the shame, embarrassment and guilt out of talking about sex.<\/p>\n

In the first instance, everybody is invited to email education@yessexpleasewerebritish.com to share what they are doing with sex education, what they wish they had for sex education, what they want to see happen.<\/p>\n

The feedback will help shape Ms Niblett’s speech in the debate on Lifelong Sex Education and contribute to next steps.<\/p>\n

Ms Gallop added: “I built MakeLoveNotPorn and MakeLoveNotPorn Academy to work together as a lifelong sex education learning ecosystem in response to requests from parents, teachers and young people.<\/p>\n

“The issue of porn as default sex education that I was the first person to publicly identify on the TED (technology, entertainment and design) stage 17 years ago, has only worsened over time, and expanded exponentially with the exploitative and criminal use of AI technology today.<\/p>\n
