Picture date: Friday April 17, 2026.&lt;\/p&gt;\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Police in Kensington Gardens<\/p>\n<p>PA<\/p>\n<p>A fire investigation unit from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/lfb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">London Fire Brigade (LFB)<\/a> and the London Ambulance Service\u2019s hazardous area response team are also present at the scene, as are LFB\u2019s fire investigation dogs.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/met-police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Metropolitan Police <\/a>chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear team was seen near the bandstand, around 500m away from the Israeli embassy, while divers from the Met\u2019s underwater and confined space search team are also in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>One eyewitness was asked to leave the park after entering at around 9.45am from Kensington High Street.<\/p>\n<p>The entire park has been cordoned off since Friday morning, with an increased police presence around the park as officers assess the discarded items.<\/p>\n<p>What have the police said?<\/p>\n<p>Police have confirmed they are investigating whether items found nearby are linked to a video claiming the Israeli embassy was going to be targeted by drones carrying dangerous substances.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/metropolitan-police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Metropolitan Police<\/a> said that while the embassy had not been attacked, officers were investigating the source and authenticity of the footage.<\/p>\n<p>The force have urged people to avoid the area while investigations are carried out.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/01KPDPZ635497BJ1W0R2TB8DZS.jpg\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2553\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Police officers in Kensington Gardens<\/p>\n<p>PA<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re carrying out urgent inquiries to determine the authenticity of the video and to identify any potential link between it and the items discarded in Kensington Gardens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: \u201cWe recognise this may concern local residents and the wider public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe do not believe there to be any increased public safety risk at this stage, but we would urge people to avoid the area while officers carry out their work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What have the Israeli embassy and the Royal Parks said?<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli embassy confirmed in a statement that the site was not attacked and staff were safe.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson said: &#8220;A suspected security incident is being investigated in the park adjacent to the Embassy of Israel in London.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wish to clarify that all Embassy staff are safe and that the Embassy was not attacked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As always we remain in close and continuous contact with the local authorities.&#8221;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/royal-parks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Parks <\/a>spokesperson said: \u201cDue to an ongoing police investigation, Kensington Gardens will be closed to the public today.
