Picture: Google<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lillicrap was dismissed for gross misconduct in February 2024.<\/p>\n<p>While no criminal charges were brought, a Teaching Regulation Agency panel concluded his actions amounted to unacceptable professional conduct and brought the profession into disrepute.<\/p>\n<p>The report found his behaviour was \u201cof a sexual nature\u201d and driven by sexual motivation, adding there was \u201cno plausible innocent explanation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Lillicrap, when taking images of his genitalia on school premises&#8230;was wrongly focused on his own sexual gratification rather than on his teaching responsibilities,\u201d said the panel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Lillicrap\u2019s behaviour showed no regard to safeguarding of students, or the potential risk of students, colleagues and\/or members of the public finding him taking images of his genitalia when on school premises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was not an appropriate way for a teacher to behave, and he failed to observe the boundaries appropriate to his role as a teacher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It concluded his actions \u201cfell significantly short of the standards expected of the profession\u201d and would \u201csignificantly damage the public\u2019s perception of teachers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns were also raised about safeguarding, warning Mr Lillicrap\u2019s actions risked exposing pupils, colleagues or members of the public to inappropriate behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators further noted similar images had been taken at previous schools, suggesting a pattern of conduct and a risk it could be repeated.<\/p>\n<p>The panel said Mr Lillicrap had shown some remorse, but found this did not outweigh the seriousness of the case.<\/p>\n<p>A prohibition order was recommended and later imposed on behalf of the Secretary of State.<\/p>\n<p>It means he is barred from teaching indefinitely and cannot apply to return to the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>The decision states the misconduct was \u201cat the more serious end of the spectrum\u201d and that a lifetime ban was necessary to maintain public confidence in the profession.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A teacher who took pictures of his genitalia at work during the school day has been banned from&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":16571,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[1537,529,309,5,6],"class_list":{"0":"post-16570","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-uk","8":"tag-faversham","9":"tag-human-interest","10":"tag-kent","11":"tag-uk","12":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@UnitedKingdom\/116425324446830704","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16570","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=16570"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16570\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/16571"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=16570"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=16570"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=16570"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
