{"id":18663,"date":"2026-04-21T12:22:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:22:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/18663\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T12:22:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:22:48","slug":"uk-police-say-17-year-old-boy-charged-over-arson-attack-on-london-synagogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/18663\/","title":{"rendered":"UK police say 17-year-old boy charged over arson attack on London synagogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON \u2014 British police said Tuesday that a 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a counter-terrorism investigation into an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/uk-arrests-2-teens-as-thugs-for-hire-after-latest-arson-attack-on-london-synagogue\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arson attack<\/a> on a synagogue in north London over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The boy, who was charged with arson not endangering life, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court later Tuesday, police said in the statement. (Justin Tallis\/AFP)<\/p>\n<p>Jukes noted there have now been 15 arrests following six separate incidents, including against a Jewish-led ambulance service and a Persian-language media outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The newly founded Islamist group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI), or Movement of the Companions of the Right Hand of Islam, which has links to Iran, has claimed responsibility for many of the recent attacks across Europe on American, Israeli and Jewish targets, according to SITE Intelligence Group.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement published on Telegram on Sunday, HAYI said that it had targeted the Kenton United Synagogue because it is \u201cone of the centers of Zionist influence in the British capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>British Prime Minister Keir Starmer vowed Sunday to bring the perpetrators of the \u201cabhorrent\u201d recent attacks to justice, as concern over the spate of incidents intensified.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AFP__20260324__A4JF4U7__v1__HighRes__BritainPoliticsCrimeArson.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3790059\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/AFP__20260324__A4JF4U7__v1__HighRes__BritainPoliticsCrimeArson-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tPolice stand outside the scene of an antisemitic arson attack in the Golders Green neighborhood of north London, on March 24, 2026.
