Veterans\u2019 charity has paid tribute to Martin Chadburn\"22\/04\/26<\/p>\n

The East Yorkshire area veterans\u2019 charity Hull 4 Heroes has paid tribute to one of its much-valued colleagues. The organisation said it was \u201cdevastated to announce the tragic loss of our amazing friend and colleague Martin Chadburn\u201d.<\/p>\n

With guidance from Martin\u2019s family and Humberside Police<\/a>, Hull 4 Heroes posted a statement on social media. Paul Matson, CEO of Hull 4 Heroes, said: \u201cIt is extremely difficult to put into words how profoundly shocked and saddened we are at the loss of our colleague and friend, Martin Chadburn.<\/p>\n

\u201cMartin \u2013 a veteran of nine years\u2019 service – has been a part of Hull 4 Heroes<\/a> since day one, first as a volunteer and then as an employee. To say he embodied the spirit and values of the charity<\/a> is an understatement.<\/p>\n

\u201cMartin was the type of person who would drop everything to help anyone and during his time with Hull 4 Heroes, he made a real and positive difference to the lives of many veterans and former military personnel. He will be greatly missed by us all and we would like to offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul asked that the police be allowed the time and space needed to conduct their investigations, following Martin\u2019s death. The post has been met by hundreds of comments and messages of condolence.<\/p>\n

Responding to the post, one person said: \u201cDevastated to hear this news. Martin was a true hero\u2014an exceptional veterans case worker and a real credit to your charity. He will be deeply missed; his humour and spirit lit up every room, and he always brought a smile to those around him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another person said: \u201cBeyond devastated at the loss of such a wonderful human, Martin you are one of the very best and the world is a poorer place without you in it.\u201d One reply read: \u201cMartin was a lovely bloke who made my dad feel so welcome whenever he went into HFH. Sending condolences to his family, friends and everyone in HFH.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the responses was one that said: \u201cRest easy my friend your service is done and you will not be forgotten RIP.\u201d A further comment was: \u201cSo sorry to hear this. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. And also to the Hull4Heroes family, sleep tight Martin, you’ve earned your wings.\u201d<\/p>\n

A comment by Humber Wellbeing Hub said: \u201cWe are so deeply sorry to hear this devastating news. Our thoughts are with Martin\u2019s family, friends, and everyone at Hull4Heroes at this incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n

Martin, 53, was taken to hospital following what police called a \u201cserious assault\u201d, in which he suffered a head injury, in the early hours of Sunday (April 19) in the area of Queen Victoria Square. He tragically died yesterday (Tuesday, April 21) and a murder investigation has been launched.<\/p>\n

Five people were arrested on Monday – three women aged 20, 20 and 21, and two men aged 27 and 34 – on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody while officers conduct further enquiries. A 49-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Sunday, remains on conditional bail.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information, including those who were in the area around the time of the incident, or has CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage that may assist with police enquiries, is asked to please contact the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 100 of 19 April.
