On a tense morning broadcast, Good Morning Britain<\/a> hosts Kate Garraway and Paul Brand joined a reporter as they broadcasted live from outside the BBC Studios, following the sudden dismissal of radio presenter Scott Mills<\/a>. The update came less than 24 hours after news broke that Mills had been removed from his role at BBC Radio 2, reportedly due to a complaint concerning his “personal conduct”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The segment quickly set a serious tone, with Paul and Kate pausing their usual programming to get the latest developments. They turned to correspondent Nick Dixon, who outlined the rapidly unfolding situation live from outside the BBC Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He explained: “This has all happened very quickly, and as much as the BBC has appeared to act quite decisively here without giving any detail of what exactly has happened, it is yet another very high profile presenter<\/a> leaving in really quite a challenging situation with many difficult headlines for the BBC this morning.”<\/p>\n

Nick emphasised the significance of Mills’ long-standing career, reminding viewers that he had been a familiar voice across multiple platforms including BBC Radio 1 and 2, the Express <\/a>reports.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cScott Mills was a very popular presenter on the network over a long period of time, he had a career in television and in radio. He started on Radio 1, moved to 5 Live of course and ended up presenting the flagship Radio 2 breakfast show.\u201d<\/p>\n

His track record with the company, working his way through the ranks on radio for the BBC, made the abrupt nature of his departure a complete shock to viewers and his BBC colleagues alike.<\/p>\n

Perhaps most surprising, as Nick pointed out, was how unaware Mills appeared to be of the impending decision. “He signed off on Tuesday of last week from his programme seemingly unaware that anything was about to take place,” the news reporter continued.<\/p>\n

Good Morning Britain then aired clips of Mills cheerfully telling listeners: “See you tomorrow,” while signing off what would become his final broadcast.<\/p>\n

After the clip, Nick continued: “Scott Mills sacked from the BBC over allegations surrounding his personal conduct. The way in which the BBC has responded so quickly does suggest a real shift within the organisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cReports this morning that the sacking of Scott Mills are being linked to a 2016 police investigation into serious sexual offences against a teenager. The Mirror have published a statement from the Metropolitan Police saying that the case was ultimately dropped due to lack of evidence.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “We haven\u2019t been able to verify that statement from the Met Police.<\/p>\n
