Two staff members from Derbyshire Constabulary<\/a> are set to appear in court.<\/p>\n

Jessica Fitzhugh, 22, of Belper<\/a>, and Ellie-Mae Doherty, 21, of Ripley<\/a>, worked as call handlers in the control room.<\/p>\n

They have been charged with misconduct in public office following an investigation directed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over allegations that they passed confidential information to criminals.<\/p>\n

The two women allegedly accessed police systems in 2023 and 2024 and passed sensitive information to unauthorised third parties.<\/p>\n

It has been alleged that they accessed data on police systems without authority, passed confidential information to unauthorised third parties and failed to inform the force of an association with people involved in criminality.<\/p>\n

Fitzhugh is additionally accused of taking images of data held on police systems without authority.<\/p>\n

The charges come after conduct referrals were received from Derbyshire Constabulary in December 2023 and March 2024, and a subsequent investigation was carried out by the force\u2019s counter-corruption unit under the IOPC’s direction and control.<\/p>\n

At the end of the investigation, a file of evidence was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and on March 23, the CPS authorised the charges of misconduct in public office.<\/p>\n
