{"id":21124,"date":"2026-04-24T11:38:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/21124\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T11:38:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:38:27","slug":"shocking-attack-on-dj-fat-tony-caught-on-camera-at-gig-in-cliftonville-margate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/21124\/","title":{"rendered":"Shocking attack on DJ Fat Tony caught on camera at gig in Cliftonville, Margate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A thug has avoided jail after knocking a celebrity DJ unconscious in a shocking attack caught on camera at a Kent gig.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile phone footage shows the moment Zack Bradley, 37, punched fellow disc-jockey Fat Tony to the floor at The Lido in Cliftonville, Margate, drawing gasps from the crowd as the music cuts out.<\/p>\n<p>The 60-year-old, who was Brooklyn Beckham\u2019s wedding DJ, suffered fractures to his eye socket and cheekbone, spent the night in A&amp;E and later required facial filler to correct his appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley had already admitted grievous bodily harm but appeared at Canterbury Crown Court for a Newton hearing to decide whether he made homophobic remarks.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard the incident unfolded in the early hours of December 14, 2024, as Fat Tony &#8211; whose real name is Tony Marnach &#8211; was finishing his set.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley, who performs as Zack Le Nez, approached the booth before the set had ended, breaching what prosecutor Bridget Todd described as standard DJ \u201cetiquette\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard Fat Tony responded by saying: \u201cWhat the f*** are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1059 842\" alt=\"DJ Fat Tony was left with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket after the Margate event. Picture: Fat Tony\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>As the veteran DJ\u2019s final track played, Bradley moved behind the decks with a friend to begin mixing into his own set.<\/p>\n<p>Tensions escalated when Fat Tony became involved in an argument with the friend, who allegedly called him a \u201cqueer ****\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley claimed he believed Fat Tony was shouting at his girlfriend, who was nearby, and said this prompted his actions.<\/p>\n<p>Footage played to the court showed Fat Tony later returning to the booth to collect his USB stick and patting Bradley on the shoulder as he reached across him.<\/p>\n<p>The famous DJ, known for his work on the London club scene in the 1980s and 90s, said Bradley then called him a \u201cstupid f****t\u201d, to which he replied: \u201cWhat did you say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1080 859\" alt=\"Moments before Zack Bradley, right, punched DJ Fat Tony at the gig in Cliftonville. Picture: CPS<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, Bradley struck him twice, knocking him unconscious.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley turned himself in a few days after the gig and was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, giving a no-comment interview to officers.<\/p>\n<p>In a victim impact statement read to the court, Fat Tony said: \u201cThe assault has made me feel awful &#8211; I feel shaken, violated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve been sober from drink and drugs for 18 years, and I live a peaceful life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve had to cancel six gigs because of this assault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1080 1109\" alt=\"DJ Fat Tony's head snaps back after he is punched next to the decks at the gig in Cliftonville. Picture: CPS<\/p>\n<p>During cross-examination by defence lawyer Anthony James last Friday, Fat Tony accepted he may have used offensive language himself that night, telling the court: \u201cMost probably I used the c-word &#8211; I&#8217;ve got it tattooed on my arm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI use that word every other word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr James also challenged the DJ over why he had not mentioned the \u201cf****t\u201d comment to a police officer in the ambulance, or during subsequent interviews with The Standard and on a podcast.<\/p>\n<p>Fat Tony dismissed the media interviews as &#8220;off-the-cuff,&#8221; and regarding his time in the ambulance, he told the court: &#8220;I had just come round. I was actually, at that point in time, delirious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also said he \u201cdidn\u2019t touch anyone\u201d during the altercation, and added: \u201cI\u2019m not a violent person &#8211; I\u2019m a 60-year-old gay man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bradley, who had been arrested for another assault just two months earlier, also took the stand and said he would never use homophobic language.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA good friend told me he was homosexual four years ago,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said to him, \u2018As long as you&#8217;re happy, mate, I&#8217;ll be there for you.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been brought up by gay people &#8211; my mum worked in a gay bar when I was young.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Claire Fry, founder of charity Tommy\u2019s Rainbows Mental Health service, was called to give evidence as she has been working with Bradley while he was on bail.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1298 985\" alt=\"The assault in Margate forced Fat Tony to cancel shows. Picture: Fat Tony\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>She told the court that she had not seen homophobic behaviour from him while she had been working with him.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Todd, prosecuting, said Bradley had taken cocaine that evening, which he admitted, and suggested that this may have made him angry.<\/p>\n<p>He replied: \u201cIt doesn\u2019t make me angry &#8211; it makes me nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bradley claimed Fat Tony\u2019s behaviour in the phone footage was \u201caggressive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Todd disagreed and said he had \u201cno reason to punch\u201d the victim, to which Bradley said: \u201cI\u2019ll accept that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cThe crown submits that the defendant did use homophobic language.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe words that were heard were clearly demonstrating a homophobic hostility immediately before he struck him to the face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Edmund Fowler ruled that Bradley had indeed made the comment in question, \u201cstupid f****t\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley\u2019s lawyer urged the judge not to send his client to prison, saying he had been working on his drug addiction and his mental health.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1785 1297\" alt=\"Bradley was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"DWZYC8M7Z1MJXZDGRRPV.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.38\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DWZYC8M7Z1MJXZDGRRPV.jpg\" alt=\"Bradley was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court\"\/>Bradley was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court<\/p>\n<p>He told the court: \u201cClearly, his use of cocaine is linked to his offending and he has been addressing this with probation since June last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is working hard to address his addiction, address his offending and therefore there is a real prospect of rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe ticks all the boxes for a suspended sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bradley was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, with the judge concluding his \u201crisk can be managed in the community\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have a problem controlling your temper,\u201d Judge Fowler said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no justification, and this was aggression.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a vicious and wholly unnecessary assault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the attack, Fat Tony posted pictures of his injuries &#8211; including a black eye &#8211; on Instagram, writing: \u201cI&#8217;m absolutely gutted.
