A man in his 60s has been arrested following an attempted armed robbery at a premises in Co Tyrone <\/a>on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Police received a report that a man armed with a gun had entered a shop on Brookmount Road in Omagh <\/a>at around 10:45 pm, threatened staff and demanded the contents of the till.<\/p>\n

The man fled the scene before he could complete the robbery.<\/p>\n

A PSNI<\/a> spokesperson said: “Police in Omagh have made an arrest following an attempted robbery at a business in Omagh yesterday evening, Friday 25th April.<\/p>\n

“Shortly after 10.45pm, a masked man, armed with a gun, entered the shop in the Brookmount Road area and threatened staff before demanding that they hand over the contents of the till.<\/p>\n

“The man then made off before completing the robbery.<\/p>\n

“Officers attended and arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of attempted robbery and having a firearm or imitation firearm whilst committing and offence. He remains in police custody at this time.<\/p>\n

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1908 24\/04\/26.<\/p>\n
